Together, we are the American Red Cross
- Local volunteers join teams in Northwest Louisiana Response

American Red Cross volunteers, Frances Vanderlick of Alexandria and Acie Murry of Jonesville left before daybreak this morning taking the Central Louisiana Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) to support the disaster response effort in Bossier City.  Vanderlick and Murry are leadership volunteers with the Central Louisiana Red Cross and joined teams from Northeast Louisiana to support the Northwest Louisiana Red Cross volunteers helping families impacted by the tornadoes and flooding.

One of several ERV teams responding in the area, Vanderlick and Murry traveled into the impacted areas and distributed approximately 100 meals to families and first responders along the Red River.

"Around 9 tonight, I was able to reach Frances by cell phone while she was finally stopped for dinner, tired but already looking forward to helping people tomorrow," said Leann Murphy, CEO of the Central Louisiana Red Cross.  "A little while later, I spoke with Acie who said he was going to get some rest-unless the flooding worsened and they were needed in the night."
